Rules & Policies

Before You Visit

For safety and security reasons, we ask that all visitors comply with the following rules. By entering the show, you agree to the Entrance Disclaimer and Code of Behavior.

Security Inspection

All visitors and their belongings are subject to thorough inspection before entering the show premises. Visitors must comply with requests and instructions from onsite security staff. Failure to do so may result in denial of admittance or removal from the show.

Bag Policy

Only one bag per person is allowed. Smaller bags can be taken into the halls but will be subject to inspection.

NOT ALLOWED:

  • Backpacks, suitcases, and trolleys of any size
  • Bags, briefcases, and similar items larger than 16" x 8" x 16" (40 x 20 x 40 cm)

Items that do not comply must be left in your vehicle.

Prohibited Items

  • Large umbrellas and items that might cause damage
  • Recreational wheeled devices (Segways, roller blades, skateboards, bicycles, scooters, kickboards)
  • Drones
  • Outside food or drinks
  • Weapons of any kind (firearms, sharp items, explosives, pepper spray, tasers)

What IS Allowed

  • Mobility aids for people with disabilities (wheelchairs, crutches, walkers, canes, prosthetic devices)
  • ADA-compliant personal medical equipment
  • Cameras no larger than 6" x 5" x 3" (16 cm x 12 cm x 8 cm) with one lens, no more than 80mm focal length
  • ADA-recognized service animals (must be leashed or under control)
  • Baby strollers

Camera & Photography Policy

Personal/non-commercial photography is permitted only if conducted without disruption to the fair or visitors, with safety of artworks in mind.

NOT ALLOWED:

  • Medium or large-format cameras
  • Super-zoom or telephoto lenses
  • Flashes
  • Extendable camera devices (monopods, tripods, selfie sticks)
  • Video recording for commercial purposes
  • Live streaming or live broadcasting

Food & Drinks

No outside food or drinks may be brought into the show premises. Food and beverages are only able to be consumed in designated areas of the show.

Note: Candy and chewing gum is strictly prohibited in the halls.

Tickets

Tickets obtained from unauthorized sources are void. Unauthorized or unlawful resale or attempted resale of a ticket is grounds for cancellation of all admission privileges.

Use of timed entry tickets is not a guarantee to view the entirety of the show. The show will close at its regularly scheduled time regardless of the time posted on your ticket.

Face Coverings

Visitors are not permitted to wear face coverings while attending the exhibition, except for those related to a patron's health, religion, or disability. AfriKin will reasonably accommodate exceptions if required for one of these reasons.

Lost & Found

During show hours, items are kept at the check-in desk and turned into security. After show hours, items are turned into the AfriKin Command Center.

Code of Behavior

Our Commitment to You

Our goal is to create a safe environment to enjoy the show, free from judgment, harassment, and discrimination. Professional decorum is expected at all times during our event.

Expected Behavior

At AfriKin, leading galleries present significant works by Masters of Modern and contemporary art, as well as the new generation of emerging stars. We provide you the opportunity to view such artworks in an atmosphere like no other.

Professional decorum is expected at all times. Lack of decorum, determined at the sole discretion of AfriKin, is a basis for attendance to be terminated.

Unacceptable Behavior

The following behaviors are strictly prohibited and may result in immediate removal:

  • Hate speech or inflammatory statements
  • Fraudulent or misleading conduct
  • Foul language including racial or gender-based slurs
  • Sexual solicitation
  • Unlawful discriminatory conduct
  • Overly aggressive behavior
  • Slanderous, libelous, or defamatory statements
  • Harassment of any kind
  • Disruptive behavior or unsanctioned performances
  • Dangerous or destructive behavior

Anti-Harassment Policy

We are dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for all attendees. We do not tolerate harassment of event attendees, participants, sponsors, or organizers.

Harassment includes but is not limited to:

  • Offensive verbal comments about personal appearance, sexual orientation, gender, disability, or religion
  • Intimidation, following, or stalking
  • Abusive recording
  • Disruption of events
  • Inappropriate physical contact
  • Inappropriate attention

If you are being harassed or witness harassment, please contact a staff member or show security immediately.

Children at the Fair

Please note that some artworks or performances may have mature themes or otherwise might not be suitable for children, notwithstanding their intended artistic value.

Important Guidelines:

  • Children under age 16 must always be accompanied by an adult
  • Accompanying adults are responsible for children's behavior
  • Remind children to walk, not run
  • Excess noise or playing is not permitted
  • Never touch artwork - natural oils can damage pieces

Removal Policy

The following may result in immediate removal and/or refusal of admission to future shows:

  • Failure to comply with these rules or posted regulations
  • Failure to comply with security staff instructions
  • Behavior giving rise to justified complaints
  • Disruptive behavior or unsanctioned acts of performance or protest
  • Dangerous or destructive behavior
  • Failure to abide by the Code of Conduct

Important Legal Information

By purchasing a ticket and/or entering the AfriKin Art Fair, you acknowledge and agree to the following terms and conditions.

Organizer Information

AfriKin Foundation Inc., a Florida nonprofit organization (together with its affiliates — AfriKin LLC, Brooks Music Group Inc., Bayside Rocks, Inc., Rockers Movement, and Alfonso Brooks — collectively, "Organizer"), is the organizer of the AfriKin Art Fair.

Ticket Terms

The holder of a ticket (including VIP invitations, VIP cards, and any other guest or entrant) agrees that:

  • Organizer may use Holder's image, voice, or other proprietary or public rights for marketing purposes without compensation
  • Organizer may refuse access or exclude Holder from the Show without reimbursement if Holder does not comply with applicable law or regulations
  • A ticket is a revocable license and may be revoked at any time without refund
  • Unauthorized transfer, resale, or attempted resale is grounds for seizure and cancellation
  • Timed-entry tickets do not guarantee access to all exhibits or performances

Assumption of Risk

BY ENTERING THE SHOW PREMISES, VISITOR ASSUMES ALL RISKS INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Loss, damage, or theft of property
  • Personal injury
  • Death

Holder releases and forever discharges Organizer, its officers, directors, affiliates, partners, employees, agents, and representatives from any and all liability for claims, demands, actions, or causes of action arising from attendance at the Show.

Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, HOLDER DISCLAIMS ANY SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL, INDIRECT, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES BASED UPON NEGLIGENCE OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY.

Excluded damages include, but are not limited to, loss of profit, revenue, or property.

Arbitration & Governing Law

Any dispute between Organizer and Holder shall be resolved exclusively by binding arbitration in Miami-Dade County, Florida, under the rules of the American Arbitration Association and the laws of the State of Florida.

All disputes must be arbitrated on an individual basis only. Holder waives any right to litigate or arbitrate any claim as a class action.

Media & Privacy

Holder grants Organizer the perpetual right and license to record, publish, and use Holder's name, voice, image, and likeness for any purpose, in any media, without compensation.

Important Notes:

  • Collection of personal information may be required for ticketing and registration
  • Recordings from Show Sites may only be used for personal use
  • Live streaming or broadcasting is strictly prohibited
  • Commercial use of any recordings is prohibited

Refund Policy

All sales of tickets are final; no refunds will be given for cancellations, postponements, or no-shows. Organizer reserves the right to refuse or revoke admission at any time.

Helpful Hints

Before You Arrive

  • Review the bag policy - leave large bags, backpacks, and prohibited items at home
  • Wear comfortable shoes - you'll be doing a lot of walking!
  • Plan your visit - check the schedule for special events and talks
  • Arrive early to avoid crowds, especially on opening days
  • Review the list of galleries with mature content if visiting with children

Visiting with Children

Make it a great experience for the whole family:

  • Children under 16 must always be accompanied by an adult
  • Remind children to walk, not run through the galleries
  • Smaller children can be brought in baby strollers
  • Teach children to never touch artwork - oils from fingers can cause damage
  • Security guards protect both visitors and art - ask children to respect their requests
  • Enjoy food and beverages only in designated dining areas
  • Candy and chewing gum are strictly prohibited in the halls
  • Request the 'Mature Content Notification' list at info@afrikin.org to know which galleries may be inappropriate for children

Food & Dining

No outside food or drinks are permitted. Food and beverages are available for purchase and must be consumed only in designated dining areas.

Remember: Candy and chewing gum are strictly prohibited in exhibition halls to protect the artwork.

Connectivity

Stay connected and share your experience on social media! Tag us at @AfriKinNation and use #AfriKinArtFair in your posts.

Note: Live streaming and live broadcasting are not permitted.

Photography Tips

Personal photography is welcomed with these guidelines:

  • Be respectful of other visitors and artwork
  • No flash photography - it can damage artwork
  • No selfie sticks, tripods, or monopods
  • Always ask permission before photographing people
  • Some galleries may have additional photography restrictions - respect posted signs

Accessibility Services

The Scott Galvin Community Center is fully ADA compliant. Services include:

  • Accessible restrooms with baby changing facilities
  • Accessible entrances and elevators
  • ADA-compliant seating at events

Parking & Transportation

Parking is available at the venue. Please arrive early as spaces fill up quickly during peak hours. Rideshare drop-off and pick-up zones are clearly marked.
